CGI #saintseiya is coming to Netflix! Doggie Sketch a Day

Saint Seiya, AKA: Knights of the Zodiac, is coming to Netflix as a new CGI series.

So, why not have a sketch a day to commemorate?

This was done today but not sure how long. Could’ve been around five minutes. Okay, so the hands/fingers are getting a bit better.

A funny question: Putting #fanfiction in your resume (Revision)

Here is a small revision of my now deleted post. I was rushing out the door when I posted the previous one and I’m sorry. I’m sure there was more that I wanted to add, and I should’ve checked it better.

Ow9qE_s-200x150.gif

I found this funny question lying somewhere on the net, and I forgot where. It quickly met with an answer of rejection. But instead of saying “No” and leaving it at that, I thought about it a bit more diligently.

First, I probably understand the point of asking the question. You want to provide writing samples such as for magazine or newspaper articles so you can look like an author; news media, including the spread of misinformation, imbue the online and social media.

Second, you were passionate about the work you created despite any kind of quality. Some need work, some put their hair and heart into it for sure, some think they are arrogantly or truthfully, creative. You have something to show.

Third, there is the protection of one’s product or property. Whether you like it or not, the practice of fanfiction is disagreeable here and there. It is thanks to advocates of freedom of expression and of parody being a legal medium of entertainment that fanworks are given positive critique. Some published authors have written fanfiction as well.

So what is the answer?

I’d go with “no”. I also thought of why the question was given a “no” from where I found it; the word “no” can also mean that there should be alternatives.

Here is the negative part: I took consideration in the influence of the website that you place your work in.

Fanfiction, especially Fanfiction.net, which is considered the core site for where the works are found, can be a literature cesspool. I myself have ambivalent views. If you put in a link such as “https://www.fanfiction.net/~TelsaDagger” (not real by the way) in your resume or cover level, it might look pretty strange. However, people see themselves as authors and you, once in a while, can find a good product.

I also thought that this may be the most important reason: You’re not aspiring to become a published author or land your article in a reading medium by springing off the back of another unless you’re doing news or some other kind of non-fiction.

If you look at the guidelines of manuscript submissions, even for books or comics, you realize that your creativity matters. The base that you will provide matters. That is the usual case — your aspect that you must make exist. Also, when you do work on getting a writer’s job or do publishing, you have to offer reasons as to why you’re qualified and why should your writing be approved? Will your writing aim be a success? Think of the readers.

Do not think Inuyasha. Not Olympus. Not The Hunger Games. Not Rick and Morty. Not Big Bang Theory. Not Game of Thrones.

When it comes to fanfiction and one’s life, you need to know are you legally able to write (or translate) derivative work? Are you given the permission? Does the publisher, the person (or people/company) who concocted the work gave you the permission? Do you shoot to become a writer for DC Comics or Disney for example?

In any case, it’s not like the work you made can’t be inspired into something else. Also, as fanfiction is writing, you’ll have the mentality of an author.

From ‘Fifty Shades’ to ‘After’: Why publishers want fan fiction to go mainstream (WASHINGTON POST)

Check out Attack on Titan Anthology, an reinterpretation of Isayama Hajime’s original work. Various artists provided their own spin and style on AoT.

As you can see, Attack of Titan was an international success, whether you agree or not, and it makes sense to do this anthology.

I hope this is fair.

I even thought of saying “How about posting fanfics elsewhere?” For example, what if I posted my fanfics on this blog? But ultimately, I still thought the word “No”.

Doggie Sketch a Day – From various days

Simple | 2015 Katsuki Masako x Shumei Doki Article (Part 2) #バッサリさん #勝生真沙子

Previous article: K.M x Shumei Doki (Part 1)

Let’s return to Katsuki-san’s mental strength.

From Last time

From BLEACH B Station:

イライラを溜め込んでしまう性格を直すにはどうすればいいですか?

勝「とっとと言えっっ!」

“A personality that accumulates irritation/nervousness, what should I do to correct it?”

“Katsu: Speak right away!!”

舞台に立ったときにあがらない為のアドバイスを下さい!

勝「みんなあがってんだよっ!」

“Please give advice for going against standing on stage” (note: implies that the person is nervous? Agara nai is a negative of “doing something/going up”)

KATSU: “Everyone is like that/everyone does it/GET UP AND DO IT!

YESTERDAY YOU SAID TOMORROW

役者をやってるのですが勝生さんの様に太く長く続ける為にはどうすればいいですか?

勝「笑えっっ!!

I am an actor. How do I continue a long time [as actor] strongly like Katsuki-san?

LAUGH!

This reminds me of what I said in a previous entry about online abuse in regards to acting and the http://www.nyfa.edu, which is the the New York Film Academy: “you need to survive physically and mentally.”

The New York Film Academy’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting for Film program places a heavy emphasis on two additional kinds of courses: foundation studies and physical and mental wellness.

The above quotes from BLEACH B STATION pretty much confirms that Katsuki is a casual, straightforward type of character, but I guess she isn’t on the radio show there to “instruct”. Instead of technical advice, it’s rather “sitting on the sofa” type of silly, relaxation talk. She seemed comfortable with Morita Mazakazu [C.V of BLEACH’S Ichigo, radio personality] and they laughed through and through.

Is being positive wrong? Is it frustrating to ask instruction from someone who faces little error due to length of experience?

On to PART 2

I found a file where I collected a bunch of tweets, from watchers to quotes, regarding the Shumei Doki program. Back then, when the program aired and afterwards, I wanted to gather as much impressions as I could, along with the information and the reactions of the advice.

If one of the methods to relieve discomfort and stress is to “laugh”, could it be so simple as to “not think about it?”

It seems to be the advice of a theater actor.

Quore from SHUMEI DOKI:
「年寄りや若い人の声なんて色々あるんだから
自分が与えられた役を

自分で素直に演じるだけです。

だって私が選ばれたんだから
どんな声を演じてもいいわけなんだから」

Because oneself is given a variety of roles from old to young person, perform obediently. After all, I was chosen, therefore voice that is performed should be good.

Obedience could mean reliance. Now, it could be my awful grammar and a mistranslation, I don’t want her to come off as completely arrogant. The concept seems very simple. I think she is being very considerate. A voice quality might be strange to a role, but actor should be loyal, and immersed, to the performance. Also, the point of the actor, especially the voice actor, is to play roles, few and many.

In voice acting, there is something called “voices of seven colors” (七色; nanairo) or a person who can perform various roles. It may mean a “specific thing” (ie: comedic, cool type, boy/girl, elder, animal); every actor has a width in performance. It does not necessarily mean the change of tone in a voice, which cannot change that significantly, but the nuance.

Here are good links regarding research on VA’s role adaptability by inutorikoya and yuzu:

  • 研究「声質の適合性」 (女性編) (Female)
  • 研究「声質の適合性」 (男性編) (Male)
  • IMO, there has been very few cases where Katsuki-san disappoints me, even if it’s a male role. I think the male role is a bit subtle, that it made me wonder. Most women play a young male; Katsuki seemed to have had difficulty with the dark witch in the Pre-Cure films.

    「役柄の年齢は気にしない。
    問題は感情だけ。
    お腹に力入れて、感情を込めて」

The age of the role doesn’t matter.
It’s nothing but an emotional problem [your feelings].
Load your emotions within your stomach

Not sure if I got that third phrase properly. It either means to ignore age (or all worries) as an issue or use your feelings to reinforce your acting. It could be both.

    勝生真沙子の演技指導「喋れば良いです」

Katsuki Masako’s Performance Guidance: Speaking should be good

Absolutely agree, and a lack of nervousness and the balance of breath (and consideration of how the speech comes out) support this. If anything, Katsuki-san articulation is often praised. Even recently, by Hirata Hiroaki, the C.V of ONE PIECE’s Sanji and SAIYUKI’S Sha Gojyo:

    平田:またあの役が大変だからね。僕は勝生さんの演技がとっても大好きで、セリフの言い方とか滑舌とか、すごく聞き取りやすい喋りをなさる方なんだけど、その勝生さんでも大変なセリフってあるんだ、って、僕も新鮮に見ていました。

Katsuki-san will appear in SAIYUKI RELOAD BLAST as Sharak Sanjo. Apparently, it is a challenging role for her, perhaps due to the sutra, technical term, and the importance of the lines (as a SANZO PRIEST). Hoshi Souichiro expresses that it was “an exciting/very interesting experience to see”. Isn’t to face a flaw and break through it not a good thing?

That’s all for now. I leave you with this man.

The Red Comet World | 8 Great Rivals from the Robot Japanese anime genre (Part 4) #Auris #Char

    ChB2a8dUkAEMTgG.jpg

We’re at the halfway point, and I wanted to mention GUNDAM at one point.

Char Aznable was a commanding officer in the Zeon Republic and the focal threat for  Amuro Rei, the main character of Mobile Suit Gundam. That’s the first title to this long-running series, and after that, there’s always been a masked man (or any guy hiding his eyes or face) that follows in the impression of giving the protagonist hell.

Thinking over the series as a whole, I kept wondering over which masked man/rival should I put on this list? I thought of the majority of the series, including Rau Le Cruset from SEED, Chronicle of V and Scwartz of G; for those who don’t have a mask, there’s Gato of STARDUST, Haman, and Daryl of THUNDERBOLT. Who’d be the best fighter that the main character is determined to face? I don’t even mind mentioning Luin Li of the Capital Guard (G of Reconguista).

I’ll have to go with the beginning, the one who started it all, even though he isn’t the most interesting fellow. Char Aznable has his own spin off, his movie, two artificial beings based off of him. No one can doubt that he has massive influence on this series, in real life, and in other products, really coming from the core of the first gundam series. His C.V Ikeda Shuuichi even calls Char “the main character”. It suits him well considering Char’s parents died, and that’s a typical case for gundam main characters 😉

His lines and nickname “The RED COMET” are often parodied as well, as well as a masked (or red-related) character that Ikeda Shuuchi plays (ie: Shanks from ONE PIECE). There’s even an Amuro-Char reverse parody in Detective Conan. Matter of fact, I think Char and Amuro are one of the most intense rivalries in the gundam series along with Gato and Kou in the short SATRDUST MEMORY series. In fact, the radical TITANS movement in Z Gundam was perpetrated to the actions of Gato and his superior Delaz.

Amuro and Char has constantly fought with each other, thus the latter’s mention. Consistent fighting, creating a new war, a long-time influence, a real-life connection, etc.

    img_pilot.png

    Notable Mention (?)

Yuuki Tatsuya, AKA: Meijin Kawaguchi, is the main rival of Sei Iori and Reiji in GUNDAM BUILD FIGHTERS. However, he isn’t the primary rival in the second season of BUILD FIGHTERS TRY, but still shows his might. I asked myself would I place Yuuki over Char? In conclusion, I said no. There is no denying this kid’s skill. Reiji had an absolute, burning desire to beat Yuuki just as much as Amuro did with Char. However, Build Fighters is a fun parody, shorter, and the battles between Yuuki and main are few in comparison. And since it is a part on a sports genre, Gunpla Battle, there are inevitably a TON of a rivals that intervene in the series that even the main rival has to put down in order to reach the top.

And Yuuki doesn’t parody Char’s lines, but he does use red units, including a Zaku, and he parodies the 0079 opening theme (ie: Moeagaru! Gunpla!“). So maybe Yuuki is theme song parodier ;D Even in second season, it’s the Fighter Try’s OP theme “CERULEAN”

GENKAI NANTE NAI!” (“There are no LIMITS!”)

    World Influence
There is too many to mention. but this is one of my favorites. A Char-based TOYOTA Auris was build.

Doggie Sketch a Day – Let’s call this Trirouzar (トリロウザー)

I think this SaD entry took a span of one and a half or two days, done before bed and during breaks at work.

So I thought of “hey, let’s share bizarre concepts”, inspired by Raijin Hakkei ZANAM, and I also thought of a funny question that someone asked: “Should I show my fanfics on resume?” That’s for another entry.

it started out as “cubes” and I just wanted to practice with being slow.

    IMG_19081.jpg

So, while doing this, I thought: “Two boys, mecha pilots, and a senior officer guiding them. Draw it.” It just randomly popped up. Let’s called it sengōkinrei (戦合金霊) or Fighting Alloy Soul Trirouzar (トリロウザー). Rou (鑞) can mean various things such as “dragon” and “tin solder”. This isn’t something I elaborated, or plan to, but in the future, I may share small novel and game scopes. However, if they’re small, they’re not workable; most proposals require transcripts, summaries/outlines, table of content, an ending, and so. Trirouzar isn’t one of those.

All I really have are character names. So, I thought of a three-man group, two young boys that are training to be robot riders and have different personalities: Hot-head red suit Leo Touma (熱血のレオ刀間), calculating blue-suit Sniper Shoji (冷静のスナイパー庄児). They are trained by Black Tiger Lt Cdr. O’Connor (無愛想の黒いタイガーオコナー), a female officer.

In most cases, the main characters who accidentally end up in the eponymous machine are quite young. The drawing makes the kids look young, such as 9 – 13, which isn’t odd at all either.

For Leo, I thought “Go Gundam” and maybe kill his parents? 😉 Killed by alien invaders. Then, maybe he’ll be driven with revenge. Initially, that’ll be his reason to fight. But then, is there a way for him to be swayed out of revenge? So he’ll fight for what’s really important, and not prevent useless casualties? No, not Shinn…. Wouldn’t that be fun to see?

One day I’ll explain my actual super robot series.

Tomorrow is going to be more “rivals” and more “Flute”.

Help ya boy Shinji out! | Celebrate @Megumi_Ogata’s 25th Anniversary ALBUM #animeg25th #wishes

LINK: “Animeg. 25th” Megumi Ogata 25th Seiyuu Debut Anniversary Project

    Long story short.

Ogata Megumi is a voice actress/singer that I admire, with too many credits for me to list, and she’s an advocate for animators in their business and her fans including overseas.

So now, she believes that one of the ways to support financial dissemination is through crowdfunding. She’s releasing a new CD, and overseas fans can get it through Tokyo Mirai Mode‏.

    How? Just back the crowdfunding.

And here is the album’s JUICY tracklist:

“Taiyou Ga Mata Kagayaku Toki” – from Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files – feat. Nobuyuki Hiyama
“Moon Revenge” – from Sailor Moon R: The Movie – feat. Masako Katsuki
    “Platinum” – from Cardcaptor Sakura
“Komm, süsser Tod” – from THE END OF EVANGELION
“Driver’s High” – from Great Teacher Onizuka
“Fukanzen Nenshou” – from Kamisama Dolls
“My Soul, Your Beats!” – from Angel Beats!
“Kimi no Kioku” – from Persona 3
“Kamisama no Itazura” – from Tamayura: Hitotose
“Bye Bye Yesterday” – from Assassination Classroom Second Season – feat. TERASAKA-GUMI
    “Hikari” – from Hamatora
“Zetsubousei: Hero Chiryouyaku” – from Danganronpa
“Sakuranagashi” – from EVANGELION: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo

Indeed. All of these products, from EVA to Persona, Ogata has appeared in all of them. I am personally looking forward to the Sailor Moon duet; believe me, I’ve contained my excitement. Even though the goal has been met, let’s acknowledge this wish further and continue to support Ogata.

“What can I do to overcome this invisible wall separating the fans and myself? There has to be something that even I can do, right?”

(Sic) I also wish my project could help finds residing outside of Japan to gain access to a wide variety of Japanese content. Nothing would make me happier than having those wishes come true.
