I can’t even find a joke. Nearly every episode, I feel like I’m blighted
and vomited my soul out. Somehow, the violence became worse, and so did the entire situation. Even back at the end of S1, I felt like nothing was solved, despite the plot surrounding the removing the dangerous Amazons.
I think I officially fear females being writers, and funny enough, Kobayashi Yasuko is responsible, partially or fully, for OOOs, Ryuki, Gobusters, Denoh and Tokkyuger. She also participated in Attack on Titan, episodes of GEAR FIGHTER DENDOH, and many others.
If AMAZONS has cons then it’s the alternating goals of the cast and the stubbornness of 2nd season’s main character. It pretty much turns into civil war. There isn’t a black and white sense of good and evil in AMAZONS. Human morality isn’t clear as humans are in danger of a large threat, at least in Japan, and that is the threat of turning into murderous monsters and getting hunted down. In S1, we ask, or Haruka asks, if killing and eating a “former” human is okay?
As Amazons S2 nears the end, I think we’re sighing relief.
I can’t help but see Rider BLADE-Kenzaki in this Amazon Neo. Chihiro can’t fight that well though.
SPOILERS! ALL OF IT!
Chihiro and Iyu
For S1, Haruka gradually learns who he is, to accept who he is, and wants to be an altruist; for S2, Chihiro wants to retain his humanity and a girl’s. Quite stubbornly.
We learn after a few eps that Iyu is the new “Sigma”, and also of Iyu’s origins being a factor in all of the plot problems. These two are quite connected actually, and throughout the entire show (since they work for 4C), Chihiro tries to restore Iyu’s humanity.
So, if there’s a con, it’s having to bear Chihiro’s constant tries to help Iyu (because she has “memories”), even though we’re given the hint time and time again that it’s not possible. This is especially since the Amazons can’t return, nor can the dead.
Despite all of the horror films I’ve seen
Oh God, how in the world did the violence get worse? I’m surprised that a child wasn’t killed. But this is close enough. Iyu was tortured by her father, who turned into an Amazon, her eye eaten, then killed. In addition, we have spilled-out guts, vomit, decapitation, and a girl getting her brains sucked out.

Former extermination Squad + 4C
Shido, Fuku, Takai and Kazuya separated, and Fuku joins 4C, which is the new “extermination squad” under the new administration. Shido, Takai and Kazuya end up working with Haruka in defeating the evil Amazons, leading them to chase the 4C Amazons too. And Shido’s handsome with bandages (lol).
Haruka and Jin
We gradually learn, or hold our breaths, wondering over the roles of our former Amazons. And what we learn is that, despite Thaloc, the population of Amazons increased. Haruka targeted Iyu, having a connection to her family.
I say “civil war” because the situation is basically Neo Amazons support 4C, 4C wants to kill Neo Amazon because they are infected humans, Haruka wants to kill the Neos, Neos are the entire threat, and then there is Mamoru and the Original.
5 years is a long time isn’t it? It isn’t too nice to Jin either, which I’m kind of surprised that he spent all this time wandering around as a maniac. He still retains his goal to kill all Amazons but of course Haruka won’t allow it.
Mamoru & Team X
Who would’ve thought? So, in the first four or so episodes, we question Haruka’s methods and we bear Chihiro’s patience, and then we learn how things really deteriorate. We learn that new Amazon lysogenic cells (bacteria) are rapidly developing in humans due to the cells polluting the water system, and it turns out the one behind it is a black-wearing Mamoru. The adorable Mole amazon who worked with Shido and the others. So that makes him a primary antagonist. Seriously, you can’t like anyone in this show because it’ll turn into Hell.
Did his “accident” in S1 really go that far? And seriously though Mamo, you were killing Amazons for a living. Now he can’t deal with the killing? It looks to me that he has embraced himself fully, and he wants those who share the same blood as him to survive. In a way, Mamo is right.
Amazons are being killed aimlessly, such as Team Kiss (X) hunting down Amazons for fun and killing them to portray themselves as heroes. Not to mention, there is Jin tracking them down. However, it all turned into revenge and Mamo polluted the water system with the cells.
He’s almost unforgivable. Still, he still has that sensitive side. He also tried to attack Haruka’s mom since she did started the “kill Amazons” idea with her company.
Which reminds me, I felt really bad for Team X. Hiroki also has a problem with “fluctuating goals’. Because he is a boy, he is the most ignorant out of everyone and poking his nose into this terrible business. First, he wanted revenge and then he wanted to save Chihiro and Iyu.
Chihiro in ep 9
Sick. It’s so bad that it didn’t need an ending twist. I’m surprised Tachibana even lived and I praise Kanoh’s sense of duty of resilience.
Nanaha and Jin
Remember when Nana was bitten? It all comes together, genetically. And Jin is responsible for Iyu’s father transforming. He was such a nice man that it breaks my heart.
Fukuda, Chihiro and the Right Thing?
Another case of “don’t like anyone or you’ll regret it”. S2 seems to have a theme of “parent and child” in the case of Iyu, Chihiro, and Jin, and antagonism among the family. Fukuda gets a larger role being in 4C. I have no words. That was disgusting, and I wonder if Fuku will keep his cool near the end. Will he do the right thing?
After Ep 9, Chihiro is considered a giant threat. What is the right thing? To kill children and to kill all Amazons despite their essence?
I recall Fukuda nearly shooting Mamoru back in Season 1 because Fuku thought he lost his consciousness. I think that’ll quite change now. And to make things worse, you have to wonder if Mamoru will atone and prove that humanity within Amazons is possible or will he die as a target? Will an old friend die? And it looks like the former teammates of Fuku are still evasive is considering M as an enemy. The team may bump heads.
There is no “right” in AMAZONS…except to destroy.
