Hot eyes! WET TEARS! Poll shows #1 #Gundam Series that makes you cry #機動戦士ガンダム #ネタバレ

OFFICAL LINK: GOO RAKING: TEAR DUCT EXPLOSION: #1 Gundam Series that makes you cry

Nico Nico News article on same ranking

Hooray, a new gundam article. I’ve seen a few polls on Goo about gundam as it is, such as “worst female character” and “the gundam you’d wish to pilot”. Maybe I’ll cover those one day since they’re interesting. Now, this time, this is about the gundam series that makes you cry.

Indeed, a series with a tradition of war. According to GOO Raking, these are the top three crybaby gundams:

1位 機動戦士ガンダム 鉄血のオルフェンズ (Iron Blooded Orphans)
2位 機動戦士ガンダム (0079’s gundam)
3位 機動戦士ガンダム0080 ポケットの中の戦争 (0080 War in Pocket)

4 and lower are listed on Goo.

SPOILERS (ネタバレ)! GO!

I’ll try not to reveal too much, but there are thoughts here and there. So here are spoilers for ORPHANS, Gundam X, Gundam AGE, IGLOO 1 & 2, 0080 War in Pocket, STARDUST MEMORY, 0079 (1st Gen), G_RECO, Z Gundam, and 00 (Double O; TV series and movie.

I love everyone’s opinions on NicoNicoDouga. They seem to like IGLOO.

I don’t think that I will ever watch 0080 again, and that’s all I will say. It has a soft melody for both an opening and ending theme song, and it gets high praise for its story. The conflicts between Zeon and Earth Federation is considered child’s play to the youth. Remember when you used to play cops and robbers? Or how about laser tag? Alfreed was into  war machines; Bernie, even as a Zeon soldier, expressed a vulnerability. Also, what if you did not know whose side you were on? What if friends were enemies? It’s a great story and message. Oh yeah, Al cried too. That sucked.

I am really happy that people are praising IGLOO. Not only that, they’re criticizing IRON BLOODED Orphans. That’s fine.

IGLOO is at a low #17. Underrated? One thing comes to mind, and I don’t remember if I cried or not, was the Ogloo episode. Lt. Cadillac. I just remember her breaking down and that metal-shredding cry she had. It felt real, and the grief felt real. Like her puppy got ran over. Truly, since it was her brother; then, she had to go on leave from trauma. It was also a good representation of this IGLOO series. Because God, it just gets worse right into IGLOO 2 Gravity Front. I felt a little sick after I2 even ^.^;

I’ll put this scene over Azee and Lafter, how about that? To be honest, I think ORPHANS made me more tense and angry rather than made me cry. To quote someone, “A severe series”. While I was writing, I asked myself “Did I cry at all in IBO?” Then, at the last minute, I remembered:

Which makes me also remember. IBO is a heartwarming series of family and brotherhood with the will to live. But #1 crying gundam? Nah. Not me.

V Gundam is probably still on top of the list for having the most fatalities in all of the gundam series. I haven’t fully watched it; it’s ironic when it refers to the Victory Gundam. One person or two comes to mind but I don’t want to say who. I’ll put myself to the test when it’s time for me to watch it in full.

For AGE, Yurin’s death was mentioned in the comments. I agree and I did cry thanks to the setup. It goes downhill from here. It’s probably third place in fatalities.

I definitely cried at Gundam 00, which ranks at #7. Isn’t Lockon-Neil’s final moments one of the most memorable scenes in all of gundam? Or rather, isn’t he one of most likable characters? Sometimes you just need a calm-talking big brother. And it’s not just Lockon, but also Lichtendahl and Christina. It doesn’t help that each downfall follows up each other in first season. And it’s not everyday that you see a wedding get blown up. Also, there’s the Trailblazer movie and Andrei’s amazing redemption. A total highlight.

Around the ending of GUNDAM UNICORN, there was plenty of crying. A fatality comes to mind, but did I cry? I can’t remember. I probably didn’t. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone did. I remember being mad at the ending.

008th MS Team, renowned for being one of the “best gundam series” due to its reflection of guerrilla-ground warfare, just being plain NAM, is ranked at #10. The ending is possible, and fixed, if you don’t see the movie version about the “Post-Battle Report” with Michael.

Stardust Memory is at #14. Was it Burning?

Gundam 0079 probably made me cry the most, from Ryu to Lala. I think in different versions, like the movie, or maybe it was just flashbacks, Han Keiko (C.V of Lala) unleashes a rather jarring scream. It pretty much had to do with Lala’s innocence, Amuro killing her, and Amuro crying. Matter of fact, it was probably Amuro’s most grieving moment and Char was pretty upset too.

At the lowest was Build Fighters and G of Reconguista (AKA: G Reco). I think Build Fighters had more to do with the victories and the ecstatic feeling of the competition because the show had both well done battles and nostalgic/callbacks. I have a hard time crying in G_Reco, even though Bellri’s killing his teacher was just absurd.

Gundam X, IMO, has the best romantic relationship. If not, it has one of my favorite couples. Garrod watching Tiffa getting sent to space was easily one of the show’s highlights. And I think I did cry.

Z Gundam at #6? It’s hard to say because it was such a killing spree leading down to the end. It’s like the Staff didn’t really care. Or was it the unneeded fate of Kamille at the TV series ending? Yeah, Director Tomino has that effect sometimes.

What are your thoughts?

Which gundam made you cry? Do you agree with the ranking?
